Doppio Passo means "double pass" referring to the grapes being harvested twice within the season at two different times. Primitivo is a varietal growing in popularity worldwide because it is appealingly "easy drinking" and versatile. Genetically, the grape is identical to Zinfandel and as many American wine consumers like Zin, they're likely to take easily to Primitivo.
